Day 1 Recognition - God is all there is.

Updated: Dec 29, 2020

On this the first day of our Season for Illumination, the day after the shortest day of the year, the Winter Solstice, we begin to “call back the light” into our lives. We remember that the power within us, by whatever name we call it, is all there is. Sometimes I refer to this higher power as God or as the great Om—omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. God is in the small detail and in the big picture; it is the Alpha and Omega.

On the first day of Recognition, pick a time for the family to hang a wreath or a circle someplace in your home where it will be accessible throughout the Season. Once the circle is hung, have someone state the meaning of the circle and the step of Recognition. An example might be: “We hang this wreath as a symbol of the start of our Season of Illumination. The unbroken circle represents the Oneness and continuity of Life. In this we recognize that God is all there is.”
