Beautiful

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.

— Psalm 127:1

I dwell in the house of love …

— The Science of Mind, page 536

Beautiful

There was a very meager house, so meager in fact, that the ceiling was caving in and floors were sagging. Many children lived in this house, so it was very busy, noisy, and hectic. The windows couldn’t open very well and the shades didn’t work, but no one seemed to mind.

One afternoon, the eight-year-old of the family was having a birthday party. One of the children he had invited was a dear friend whom he liked to call his “sister.” She came from a perfectly elegant mansion filled with gold and crystal. However, she had no brothers or sisters, and often she was not allowed to play with others. So she usually sat in her house all day and played with her cat.

She was the first to arrive at the birthday party. Just as she set her foot in the door, the baby emptied a cupboard of pots and pans and gleefully banged them on the floor; the cat began busily to feed her six new kittens; and the birthday boy was trying to find his shoes under the bed. The little girl sat down on the floor with the baby, looked around, and said, “Oooh! Your house is beautiful!”

That incident is similar to one in which another little girl’s family was looking for a place to live. “Have you found a home yet?” the girl was asked. “Oh, we have a home,” she replied. “We just don’t have a house to put it in.”

Love makes a home.

And since God is Love, it’s God that makes a home.

Without God’s Love, it will always be merely a house.

I check every room in my abode and make sure it is a living, loving room.

Every thing and thought I put into it contributes to the expression of love.

Thank You, God, for blessing my home and my life.
