A Change of Mind!

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

— Proverbs 21:23

Each one of us today is the result of the use he has made of the Law,

either consciously or unconsciously.

As soon as we realize this we shall see that what we are now

… is the result of what we have thought;

and the answer to what we shall be is contained

in what we are now thinking, for we can change our thinking.

A Change of Mind!

Life and all the situations it brings can be viewed in so many ways, that a tremendous thrill often flows through us when we suddenly realize we can actually choose how we react. For instance, a man walking along a road approached a tree that had fallen in his path. He gave it a harsh kick and said, “Who put this ugly thing in the road?”

A few minutes later a young man came along and exclaimed, “Look at this beautiful tree lying in the road. O tree, you have offered shade and rest to many a weary traveler, and now it is your turn to, sleep. Rest in peace.”

I see examples all the time in my life that illustrate the same story. Recently a young woman confided in me that she felt her husband didn’t understand her, and her six children were screaming machines who did nothing but ceaselessly make demands upon her.

Later that very day she decided to quiet her mind. She contacted the inner light and in the twinkling of an eye, it was though a veil had been lifted. When her husband came home that night, she perceived the Christ within him and greeted him with love. The whole house became peaceful … and nothing had been changed but her mind. Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all else shall follow.

I am quiet. I seek the inner light,

which Is Truth,

about all people, places, and things in my life.

I am no longer the victim of my emotions;

I am no longer the victim of my appetites;

I am no longer the victim of my neuroses;

I am no longer the victim of race consciousness.

I seek the best and most beautiful in all situations.

I have the power to change my mind. I am free. I am free.

I am free!
