I Refuse to Accept the Facts

Even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive,

because it seeth him not ... shall be in you.

— John 14:17

Faith looks to the invisible and instead of seeing a void

it fastens its gaze upon a solid reality.

I Refuse to Accept the Facts

Ernest Holmes tells us that if we have the faith that there is but One Mind, in all and through all, our faith in it will not be denied. It will not take no for an answer.

Before my current career change, I was working at a temporary agency as a receptionist/interviewer. A young man, Jim, with an artificial arm (prosthesis) came in to apply for a job. He had lots of experience in mechanical things. His arm was made by one of our clients, Intermedics. I thought it would be splendid if this person could get a job over there, not only using his expertise, but also demonstrating how the product worked.

Alas, there were no jobs open. But I remembered what Ernest Holmes said about faith looking to the invisible so I had a little talk with God. “God, I know there’s a perfect job for Jim, where he can use his abilities and get a fine salary in return.” Just then, the phone rang and it was Cheryl, our on-site representative at Intermedics. She was calling about something else, but I told her about Jim. “Oh, Rainbow, we’ve just had a mechanical job open up. Send his resume right over!”

Today, I have perfect clarity of thinking. I refuse to be misled by the “facts” that appear to my senses. I “know” that behind these apparent “facts” lies the Truth which reflects the Reality of all Being, bringing me perfect health, wealth, and happiness. And so it is.
