Looking Through Labels

Hear, for I will speak of excellent things;

and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

Looking Through Labels

Religious Science tells us that we must look at life with spiritual understanding. This means that our belief in goodness must be greater than any apparent manifestation of its opposite.

Nima teaches a class of “non-educable” eighth graders. This is the label “stamped” upon these students by the system. Nima refuses to accept that label and loves each one of her students. She always tells them how brilliant they are, how unique they are, how amazing they are. She puts affirmations all over the room. They say things like: “I am fantastic! I am brilliant! I am awesome! I can do whatever I choose to do and I succeed!” Everywhere they look, they see spiritual truths. She recognizes and re-affirms their greatness.

It came time for the skills test that all students are required to take. Her students also had to take this test, even though they had been labeled “non-educable.” Not only did her students pass, they scored higher than any other group in the state!

How often do we accept the judgment or label someone else or some authority figure has stamped upon us instead of knowing the spiritual truth about ourselves? Henceforward, regardless of anyone else’s opinion, let us speak and think the Truth about our lives, and score higher than any other group in the state!

No matter what anyone says to me today, no matter what any situation looks like today, I look through the labels and appearances and know the Truth that only Good, Health, Joy, Prosperity and Peace are mine now. Thank You God!
